AITP December Meeting – HR Fun with Dave Baker

If it’s December in Pittsburgh, then it’s time for Dave Baker to speak to AITP on an HR subject at Silvioni’s Restaurant in the North Hills. You will not want to miss this knowledgeable and entertaining speaker who will keep you engaged for the whole presentation.

David J. Baker, the Founder, President and CEO of Human Capital Advisors, has almost 30 years of corporate and executive entrepreneurial leadership and business experience spanning multiple industries and functions. He is particularly adept at linking human capital strategy and operations with organizational goals and objectives. His first book, The Everything HR Kit was published in August 2010 by the American Management Association.

Prior to forming and launching Human Capital Advisors, Dave established and led the Human Capital Solutions practice for Adams Capital Management, one of the largest venture capital firms in the country. He was accountable for all executive, management and professional assessment, coaching, recruitment and talent programs in the US.  He served as the internal HR consultant to the entire portfolio of companies.  Services comprised implementing a broad range of HR initiatives including: executive coaching, recruitment and selection, compensation, benefits, training, workforce development, and leadership and organization development. Prior to Adams Capital Dave was the Director of Human Resources for ADC Telecommunications in Minneapolis and earlier in his career was the first human resources executive for WQED Communications, home of Mister Rogers, the National Geographic Specials, Project Literacy, The Infinite Voyage, and numerous other national productions. ! Dave started his career with the Swiss Aerospace company, Contraves Goerz where he was the HR Manager for their Charlotte, North Carolina operations.

Dave holds an MA in Human Resource Management from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA and a BA in Psychology and Industrial Relations from Saint Vincent College.  Dave has served on the Board of Directors for McGuire Home, the Pittsburgh Human Resource Association the Marcellus Resource Group and the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association and other organizations focused on advancing the field of human resource management.

He is a frequent speaker on current human capital best practices, including effective executive coaching in a dynamic market, metrics and analytics, compliance and litigation, human capital technology, and the impact of changing workforce demographics.

In 2003, Dave was awarded Lifetime Distinction as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society of Human Resource Management in Alexandria, Virginia, which recognizes extraordinary leadership within the human resources profession.
